Wie is ons?

Eleos ondersteun al sedert 1998 gesinne in Pretoria-Wes. Ons bou persoonlike verhoudings in al ons groepsprojekte en programme. Ons voorsien bystand aan minderbevoorregte kinders en hulle families deur middel van verskillende behoefte-gerigte programme. Ons handhaaf Christelike normes en waardes.

Who are we?

Since 1998, Eleos has been supporting communities in Pretoria West. We uphold strong Christian values and provide assistance to underprivileged children and families through our groups and programmes.

Ons streef daarna om liefde en deernis te toon aan ‘n behoeftige gemeenskap en aandag te gee aan hul fisieke, emosionele en geestelike behoeftes en welstand. Ons hoofdoel is om minderbevoorregte kinders en hul gesinne te versorg en te help deur vroeë ingryping deur maatskaplike ontwikkelingsprogramme te fasiliteer. Al ons aktiwiteite en werkswinkels is daarop gemik om die nodige vaardighede, gereedskap en vertroue te bied om verandering en ‘n beter toekoms te implementeer.

Eleos believes in empowering a community to help themselves. We strive to show love and compassion and pay attention to their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Our main goal is to care for and empower underprivileged children and their families assist through early intervention and social development programmes. All our activities and workshops are aimed at acquiring the necessary skills, tools and confidence to bring about change and a better future.

'n Bietjie Van Ons Geskiedenis

A Bit Of Our History

Eleos is ‘n Griekse woord wat GENADE IN AKSIE beteken, en dit is wat ‘n groep vroue van Pretoria-Oos begin doen het. Gedurende Augustus 1998 het ‘n groep vroue ‘n speelgroep in Booysens besoek. Die desperate nood en swaarkry van die kinders het die vrouens só geraak dat hulle onmiddellik besluit het om aktief betrokke te raak. Hulle het nie net besef by hoeveel gesinne basiese noodsaaklikhede ontbreek nie, maar kon ook sien dat maatskaplike opheffing en voortgesette projekte nodig was om ‘n verskil in die kinders se lewens te maak. Met verloop van tyd is verskillende gemeenskapsprojekte van stapel gestuur wat op die gesin as geheel fokus. ʼn Gemeenskapsentrum in Wilhelmstraat (Huis van Genade) en ‘n sentrum wat fokus op vroeë kinderontwikkeling in Marketstraat (Huis van Hoop) het spoedig bakens geword van hoop vir talle behoeftige gesinne. Eleos bedryf ook drie naskole in die omgewing.

Eleos is a Greek word that means MERCY IN ACTION and that is what a group of women from Pretoria East started doing. In August 1998, a group of women visited a playgroup in Booysens. The desperate need and struggle of the children touched the women in such a way that they immediately decided to get actively involved. They not only realised how many families lived in dire need of basic items but that social upliftment and ongoing projects were needed to make a difference in the childrenʼs lives. Over the years, various community projects were launched, focussing on the family as a whole. A Community Centre in Wilhelm Street and an Early Childhood Development Centre in Market Street soon became beacons of hope for many destitute families. Eleos also has two After School Care facilities in close vicinity to the primary schools.

Ons fokus ons werk in Booysens en Claremont, Pretoria-Wes. Hierdie gemeenskap sukkel nie net om die noodsaaklikhede te bekom nie, maar het ook die las van geweldige finansiële, fisieke, emosionele en geestelike uitdagings.

We focus our work on Booysens and Claremont in Pretoria West. This community not only struggles to obtain the necessities but also has the burden of tremendous financial, physical, emotional and mental challenges.
